Circular economy solutions for energy and material recovery


Circular economy

The action plan for the circular economy, promoted by the European Commission, has identified seven key areas for action, including waste management and shipment.

Ecotec has been processing waste with circular economy solutions since 2004, with the first experience of the Soil washing and Ensolvex plant for the total recovery and reuse of hydrocarbon contaminated soil.

Energy recovery

Ecotec's Research Centre can study circular economy solutions tailored to the customer, aimed at energy recovery and the production of new materials to be used in production cycles, starting from waste.

For the near future, Ecotec is currently building a new thermal plant for energy recovery from waste.

Recovery of materials and metals

It is possible to produce sand and gravel for sub-bases and fills, starting from contaminated soil, or it is possible to study the energy recovery from non-recyclable plastic materials, or the recovery of metals from industrial waste. It is also possible to transform contaminated aqueous wastewater into water for industrial use, with great savings in virgin resources.

Furthermore, Ecotec has developed specific circular economy solutions for the recovery of metals, such as zinc, lead and silver from jarosite and rare earths from red mud.
