Waste volume reduction

Ecotec has developed a thermal process, Thermal Dryer System TDS, for reducing the volume of oil sludge, filter cake produced by gasification plants (IGCC) and sludge from refineries waste water treatment plants (or other similar complex plants). The thermal-drying system is able to drastically reduce the amount of waste to be disposed of.

Oil sludge thermo-drying

The technology of the thermo-drying process is an horizontal thin film type; the wet sludge is dried inside the reactor, thanks to the direct contact with the jacketed shell for diathermal oil circulation.

The thermal drying reactor is internally equipped with a rotor whose movement allows the sludge to be distributed on a thin film, the water to evaporate and the sludge layer to be removed from the heating surface.

The installation of a thermal-drying plant makes it possible to reduce the amount of waste to be disposed of by up to 90 per cent.
