Industrial Waste Treatment Platform
The Ecotec Gestione Impianti Waste Treatment Platform is located in the Macchiareddu Industrial Area, Assemini (Sardinia, Italy), and operates under Integrated Environmental Authorization (AIA) No. 1/2026, issued following the review of AIA No. 108/2010 and subsequent amendments, in accordance with the European Best Available Techniques (BAT) Conclusions for the waste treatment sector.
The facility is authorized for the storage, recovery and treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste, including solid waste, liquid waste and sludge. Through a combination of physical-chemical, mechanical and recovery processes, the platform provides integrated solutions for a wide range of industrial waste streams generated throughout Sardinia.
The plant is organized into four main treatment lines:
- Line 1 – Solid Waste and Dewatered Sludge Treatment This section is dedicated to the treatment of contaminated soils, industrial solid waste and dewatered sludge through advanced processes including: - Soil washing; - Screening and separation; - Crushing and shredding; - Stabilization and inertization; - Washing of contaminated containers.
- Line 2 – Sludge Treatment Treatment of industrial sludge through conditioning, thickening and dewatering processes designed to reduce waste volumes and improve subsequent recovery or disposal operations.
- Line 3 – Industrial Wastewater Treatment Treatment of industrial and process wastewater through physical-chemical processes including: - Neutralization; - Coagulation and flocculation; - Sedimentation; - Filtration; - Activated carbon treatment.
- Line 4 – Hydrocarbon-Contaminated Liquid Waste Treatment Treatment of oily wastewater and hydrocarbon-contaminated liquid waste through separation and purification processes including: - Oil-water separation; - Physical-chemical treatment; - Filtration; - Centrifugation.

The facility operates under a certified Environmental Management System in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 and continuously applies best available techniques to ensure environmental protection, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
L’impianto trattamento rifiuti industriali della Piattaforma Ecotec è autorizzato per le seguenti capacità massime complessive:
- 102,700 tonnes/year of solid waste and dewatered sludge treatment capacity; 6,500 tonnes maximum instantaneous storage capacity for solid waste and dewatered sludge;
- 100,000 tonnes/year of liquid waste treatment capacity;
- 120 tonnes instantaneous storage capacity for sludge;
- 360 tonnes instantaneous storage capacity for industrial wastewater;
- 1,000 tonnes instantaneous storage capacity for hydrocarbon-contaminated liquid waste.
